We believe that the lower AUC value for the MLSMR and the comparatively higher AUC value for the NCI database is a consequence of the more recent assembly of the MLSMR database compared to the NCI database.
A more recent assembly, version 7.1 (v7.1, [ 9], discussed in [ 11]), orders reassembled scaffolds using meiotic map and synteny information into a 'main assembly' of 10 chromosome-scale superscaffolds covering ~75% of the genome, with another ~7000 small 'orphan' scaffolds not incorporated into the main assembly.
