It should have better (or more reliable) predictive validity than self-report, informant report and non-standardised assessment, and demonstrate sensitivity to changes in function over time as cognitive or physical function deteriorates.
It may then be possible to determine more definitively the predictive validity of the CI in highlighting individuals at risk of experiencing postgraduate disciplinary procedures and importantly determine more precisely whether conscientiousness remains a stable characteristic throughout medical school unaffected by teaching.
For research purposes, longitudinal designs should be employed in order to assess predictive validity more thoroughly.
