In this study, insoluble α-cellulose is proposed as a more practical substrate to screen for purified CBHs and EGs.
This study investigates how these cellulases adsorb and hydrolyze insoluble α-cellulose − considered to be a more practical substrate which mimics the alkaline-pretreated biomass used in biorefineries.
Thus, screening experiments need to be conducted with a more practical substrate such as α-cellulose so that proper cellulases are selected which best hydrolyze the biomass actually used in biorefineries.

Sekitani et al.5 made an important next step toward more practical devices and demonstrated vacuum-evaporated pentacene OFETs supported by polyimide substrates with mobility μ~0.5 cm2 V−1 s−1 that could be bent to a radius of R~3.5 mm (for devices without encapsulation) and down to 100 μm (for devices encapsulated in parylene).
Moreover, some of the applied studies for more practical evaluation of biohydrogen production have also been performed using such substrates (Table 3).
However, too thick CNT film which is prepared by brush coating method would lead to CNT particles pilling from substrate during cell assembly process, indicating that the CNT CEs fabricated by spray method are more practical.
More practical for online monitoring is the use of the luxCDABE genes, in which luxCDE code for the (re generation of the substrate [ 10].
