Controls had more children, more often breast-feeding, had more frequently a history of OC use, but less frequently ever used HRT than cases.
Patients recently diagnosed as having breast cancer more often had breast conserving therapy (54% (50 313/93 569) versus 48% (38 638/80 228); P<0.001), whereas axillary node dissection was performed less often (P<0.001).
Family history of breast cancer was significantly more often in breast cancer patients (14.4%) than in controls (6.2%) (p = 0.002).
Women in that situation could also opt for being screened more often for breast cancer – every 12, 18 or 24 months instead of every three years – or starting breast screening earlier than usual, from 30 or 35 onwards rather than 50.
In adults, differential diagnosis should include pituitary macroadenoma, sellar meningioma, craniopharingioma, metastases (more often from breast and lung primary tumours), and lymphoma [39].
However, compared to PABC <5 cases, nulliparous cases more often underwent breast conservation therapy (22.9 vs. 46.8 %), while PABC <5 cases received mastectomy more frequently compared to nulliparous cases (p < 0.0001) (Table 1).

In the present study, we have found that patients ≤ 40 years were treated more often with breast-conserving surgery compared to mastectomy (48.6% versus 36.5%, p = 0.0006), adjuvant chemotherapy (87.9% versus 65.6%, p < 0.0001), and less often with tamoxifen (p < 0.0001).
