The Rhondda Leader one of the more familiar local papers of the region, was first published in 1899 and nine years later became the Rhondda Leader, Maesteg, Garw and Ogmore Telegraph.
And Lynn Sutfin, a public information officer for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, said she's been fielding more and more requests from local papers and TV stations following the Indiana warning.
Nobody here demands more local powers.
"We are being quoted more in the local papers.
The proprietor of the appropriately named Kings News, which opened two weeks ago, said he sold more than 300 local papers, one of them a special souvenir edition, mostly to people queuing for the cathedral.
Readers remain more loyal to their local papers than in other countries, yet they are also early adopters of technology.
But the mandate from Mr. Zell and his team has been to make the papers more local and more eye-catching, with more graphics and charts, and shorter articles.

The layoffs will not apply to the company's flagship paper, USA Today, but to the company's 84 other daily newspapers in the United States, and more than 800 small, nondaily local papers.
In the past three years, newspaper circulation and advertising revenues have plummeted, a fourth of all newsroom employees have been laid off or have accepted buyouts, and more than a hundred free local papers have folded.
