Earlier evidence for potential interstrain genetic incompatibilities showed that AF16-HK104 hybrids produce more embryonic lethality than either parental strain and that ∼20% of the offspring produced by selfing an F1 hybrid take longer to reach adulthood (Dolgin et al. 2008).
