Clusters were determined if any two or more isolates having identical IS 6110 fingerprinting patterns comprising more than 5 bands (high copy) or having identical IS 6110 fingerprinting patterns comprising 5 or less bands (low-copy) and identical spoligotyping patterns.
Clusters were defined as groups of two or more isolates having an identical spoligotype and IS 6110 RFLP pattern, allowing for the presence, absence or shifting of no more than one band.
Given these limitations, results have to be discussed cautiously, but in case more isolates had been tested, we are unlikely to see contradictory findings as these data are consistent with previous Senegalese and sub-Saharan Africa published results.
In 2007, Bacillus sphaericus was formally renamed L. sphaericus and, together with Lysinibacillus boronitolerans and Lysinibacillus fusiformis (formerly named Bacillus fusiformis), was proposed to belong to a novel genus named Lysinibacillus gen. nov. Since then, more and more novel isolates have been assigned to Lysinibacillus.
Identical DNA fingerprint patterns are present when two or more patients' isolates have indistinguishable IS 6110-DNA fingerprints of six or more bands or when isolates with fewer than six copies of IS 6110 have identical RFLP patterns and secondary typing with polymorphic GC-rich sequence (PGRS) shows them to be indistinguishable (10 – 13 ).
In coinfection experiments that selected for reassortants containing a human virus M gene and an avian virus HA gene, the M segment of an early human virus (A/PR/8/34, H1N1) cooperated efficiently with avian virus HAs, whereas M segments derived from more recent isolates have gradually lost this ability (34 ).
More than 30 isolates have been cultured from human clinical specimens, but monkeypox virus has been isolated only once from a wild animal a moribund rope squirrel (Funisciurus anerythrus) captured in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) [4].
So far, more than 72,000 isolates have been analyzed.
