When designing a metaheuristic, one should keep in mind to provide a general-purpose method, regardless of problem-specific ingredients: while heuristics are designed to solve a given problem, the purpose of metaheuristics is to solve a more general meta-problem.
More general techniques based on meta-heuristics such as tabu search [106] and genetic algorithm [16] have been developed to deal with different production scheduling problems and show promising results.
