In addition, vitamin D deficiency causes skeletal muscle weakness leading to more frequent falls, thereby increasing fracture risk [ 2, 3].
Usually multi-factorial disorders such as impaired vision, vestibular dysfunction, sensory loss, muscular weakness or gait disorders contribute to more frequent falls [ 2- 5].
We hypothesized that increasing severity on the musculoskeletal limitations index would be associated with lower frequency of regular exercise, greater use of supportive devices, more frequent falls and more frequent dependence on others.
