More extensive density was found to be associated with risk of ER+ tumors in 6 studies [ 70- 75] and of ER- tumors in 4 studies [ 70, 73- 75].
Of 12 studies that examined tumor size in relation to breast density [ 70, 72, 77, 79- 86, 86- 89], 4 found larger tumors [ 82, 84, 87, 88] and 1 found smaller tumors [ 81] associated with more extensive density.
