NFATC4 is more evenly expressed than the other NFAT genes and its expression has been detected in the placenta, lung, kidney, adipose tissue, cardiac muscle, testis, ovary, digestive system, and spinal cord and, at lower levels, in the brain in the hippocampus, cerebellum, olfactory bulb, and various hypothalamic nuclei [19,21,23,34,36 40].
