NFATC4 is more evenly expressed than the other NFAT genes and its expression has been detected in the placenta, lung, kidney, adipose tissue, cardiac muscle, testis, ovary, digestive system, and spinal cord and, at lower levels, in the brain in the hippocampus, cerebellum, olfactory bulb, and various hypothalamic nuclei [19,21,23,34,36 40].
For example, MATL4 was biased towards P. fremontii × angustifolia genotype 1979 relative to MATL1-3, wereh were more evenly expressed across genotypes and tissues.
In turn, genes in both of these sets were more evenly expressed than genes in categories that had discordant effects (K-S test, D = 0.058, P = 0.012; Fig. 1; see Fig. S1 for aging-related categories).
