After analyzing tissue and nerve fiber matter in magnetic resonance imaging brain images of 1400 individuals, results reveal that although our brains seem to share a patchwork of forms, with some being more common in one gender over the other, the majority of the brains were a mosaic of male and female structures.
While some conditions are more common in one gender than the other (depression, CHD, osteoporosis, and hearing impairment), others, such as polypharmacy, obesity, dizziness or balance problems, and memory problems are equally common among the two genders.
Also, the gender proportions of our sample are different to those of the UK workforce, and this may influence the distribution of occupation types with some types of work being more common to one gender or the other.
More specifically, we found no evaluation studies (a) with children below 14 years of age; (b) with male participants; (c) outside the limited geographical areas of West and Central Africa, Albania, and the US and UK; and (d) with survivors of intimate partner violence in conflict-affected areas, despite this being a more common form of gender-based violence than wartime rape.
