They were not exactly congruent but it can be concluded according to the plurality rule that: 1. J99 had been separated earlier from the last ancient ancestor; 2. Shi470 was more ancient strain than the Asian strains, 51 and 52 and the three strains formed a group.
Of the 16 more "ancient" or "atypical" Beijing strains 7 strains clustered in 3 different IS6110 RFLP clusters, while 21 of the 54 "modern" strains clustered in 7 different RFLP clusters.
Moreover, TrpB2 has features of a more ancient TrpB variant.
