But in all the shouting and anxious, moral stressing about Lowe's vetoing of Islam, people lost sight of the fact that All-American Muslim was, in all likelihood, heavily inspired by a feature-length documentary shot just before it in the same town of Dearborn, Michigan.
Within nursing care research it has been claimed that moral stress arises because nurses are morally sensitive to the vulnerability of the patient, are aware of external factors that prevent them from meeting the patient's needs and feel that they are not in control of the situation [ 12].
This means, however, that negative experiences (for example, "moral stress") may arise from conflict with supervisory staff regarding beneficiary needs, organizational goals, and ambiguity of positive impact on beneficiaries (de Waal 2010; Nilsson et al. 2011).
We know from a large research tradition that disagreement or conflict often causes (moral) stress [ 44– 44].
Our findings suggest that those who were at risk of moral stress were the RNs.
While care continuity may improve patient satisfaction, our results illuminate the need for future research about care continuity and nurses' moral stress levels.
