Radiometric measurements of the thermal radiation originating from the moon's surface were obtained using an infrared detector operating at wavelengths between 8 and 14 μm.
Additionally, slides coated with a proprietary chemistry (Full Moon Biosystems, Sunnyvale, CA) were obtained.
Normative data were obtained from Moons et al. [ 13].
On average, ~10 million single-end reads were obtained for each sample of the full moon and new moon conditions, and ~15 million paired-end reads were obtained for each sample in the spawning experiment.
This is in accordance with previous publications (Ghanem et al. 2009, Widmann et al. 2010, Moon et al. 2012), although these results were obtained in a rabbit model.
The only close-up images of Ariel were obtained by the Voyager 2 probe, which photographed the moon during its flyby of Uranus in January 1986.

To each day of the four years a sun-moon angle 0 360° was obtained, adding 180° to centre it on New Moon.
Combining these data, we will be able to obtain much stronger geophysical constraints on the origin and evolution of the moon than has ever been obtained.
