Monthly malaria case data from January 1989 to December 2008, monthly rainfall, temperature, humidity sea surface temperature in the Bay of Bengal and ENSO index at the Niño Region 3 (NIÑO3) were used.
Local climate data on monthly rainfall, relative humidity (RH), and land surface temperature (LST) for the study period were obtained from the Chinese Bureau of Meteorology (China Meteorological Data Sharing Service System 2004).

This study develops and applies a novel classification-forecasting model, namely Binary GP (BGP), for teleconnection studies between sea surface temperature (SST) variations and maximum monthly rainfall (MMR) events.

The annual and monthly rainfall at each station was weighted proportionally to the area of the respective polygon overlying the aquifer surface.

Both surface water and groundwater showed significantly less variability in δ-values (Fig. 3) than in monthly rainfall of the area (Table 3).
Even with monthly rainfall averages that are similar to contemporary monthly precipitation averages, decreasing the number of monthly rainfall events reduced soil surface CO2 efflux and plant growth through soil moisture deficits.
