The half DVD-Ig molecule showed molecular size at approximately 100 kDa and 95% monomer analyzed by size exclusion chromatography (Fig. 2B).
However, a non-specific band with molecular size at about 50 kDa was detected by anti-CRY1Ab polyclonantibodiesins in both MD44 and transgenic J. curcas plants.
However, the hybridization band had molecular size at about 20 kb, much greater than the expected 6565-bp PmlI- PmeI fragment (Fig. 4f).
These GlyAspGlyGly repeats would introduce a region of small glycine residues punctuated by charged aspartates causing a difference in molecular size at the N-terminus of the protein.
C2A with molecular size at about 30 kDa was detected and its expression level did not show significant difference in young leaves between MD44 and the transgenic T0 plants (Fig. 2b).
The initial results indicated that only one T0 plant, L10-T0, had Cry1Ab/1Ac expression with the expected molecular size at about 68 kDa; the remaining T0 plants either did not show any expression of the Cry1Ab/1Ac protein or expressed truncated Cry1Ab/1Ac proteins (data not shown).
Concentrations of TWEAK, Ang-2 and PTX3 were hardly affected by CVVH since the mediators were not (TWEAK, PTX3) or hardly (Ang-2) detectable in ultrafiltrate, indicating negligible clearance by the filter in spite of molecular sizes (TWEAK, PTX3) at or below the cutoff of the membrane.
The membranes were developed by enhanced chemiluminescence, and the proteins detected by their specific antibodies were identified by their molecular sizes (Kv2.1 was located at 91 kDa, Kv3.1 was located at 110 kDa, Kv4.2 was located at 51 kDa, TREK-1 was located at 71 kDa and β-actin was located at 42 kDa).
Some of the results from this analysis should be considered an artifact of the contents of PubChem in that the population as a function of molecular size peaks at 26 non-hydrogen atoms and then rapidly declines.
At large molecular sizes the distribution shapes become less sensitive to the relatively small sized chemical modifications, or proportionally subtle conformational changes as compared to major fold alterations.
