Under molecular functions category, protein binding predominated in TC1, TC4 and TC5.
In the 'Molecular Functions' category, up-regulated genes were significantly enriched for GO terms related to various enzyme activities such as kinase, peptidase, and endopeptidase.
These include 59 unique GO terms in the cellular component category, 244 unique terms in the biological process category and 139 unique terms in the molecular functions category.
Within the molecular functions category, genes encoding binding proteins (41.68%) and proteins related to catalytic activity (43.92%) were the most enriched (Additional file 8: Figure S4).
Finally, the molecular functions category included 'transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase activity'DNADNA helicase activity', and 'insulin-like growth factor binding' (Table 2).
