Thus, there was no large molecular functional class missing in the sample of 157 families used for the phylogenomic analysis, which was quite representative of the overall relative diversity and abundance of molecular functions seen in the spruce GCAT gene catalogue [ 26].
When the predictive quality of GO classes was investigated in relation to groups of wider functional categories given by the hierarchical nature of GO, we found that 53 of the 63 GO molecular function classes located under GO 0003824: catalytic activity were significantly predicted (P<0.0020).
