We identified an eQTL module sharing genetic components with a mouse obesity phenotype — the gonadal fat mass (GFM), and evidences from previous studies strongly support the functional relevance between the module genes and obesity.
To visualize the tissue specificity of the expression modules, the activity profile of each expression module was calculated by taking a mean of the expression profiles of the module genes, and presented as a heat map (Figure 8).
After the assignment of regulators we took a stringent cutoff corresponding to the top 2% most significant predicted regulatory interactions (Figure 1), obtaining a final set of 294 unique regulators (the complete list of module genes and regulators is available in table S1).
