The galactic cosmic ray modulation for cycle 24 began at earth orbit in January 2010.
The onset of modulation for cycle 23 occurred at Earth following a number of coronal mass ejections in the April May 1998 period, as an active region moved across the solar disk from the east to the west limb.

We find that: (1) The model gives realistic modulation for both magnetic polarity cycles of the Sun, from Earth to beyond the TS, and that the level of modulation at Earth between the recent solar minimum and the previous moderate maximum condition exceed that between the HP and Earth in the recent solar minimum.
A more limited profile of Anomalous Cosmic Rays is available for cycle 23 because of the lower modulation levels in the distant heliosphere.
The difference between the modulation for the two solar polarity cycles are less significant at a heliolatitude of 35° than in the equatorial plane.
By assuming that the light intensity is proportional to the heat release rate, it is possible to deduce the distribution of unsteady heat release rate in W m−3 and see how it evolves with time during the modulation cycle and for different forcing frequencies.
For cycles 21 and 23 the depth of modulation for galactic cosmic ray He from solar minimum to solar maximum is essentially the same but it is some 50% larger for cycle 22.
Additionally, since many components are subject to temporal modulation (for instance, in concert with the progression with the cell cycle), this framework provides a natural platform for examining such effects systematically.
