PB1-F2 is a viral pathogenicity factor in mammals and birds [ 16], and has been shown to modulate viral polymerase activity [ 17, 18], enhance lung inflammation [ 19], modulate innate immune responses [ 20, 21], and demonstrate pro-apoptotic activity [ 14].
Some efforts had also been made to map the PB1 and PB2 regions that might modulate the polymerase activity.
We further tested if the PA subunit can modulate the RNA polymerase activity in RNP at different temperatures from 34°C to 42°C.
This suggests that both termini may actually modulate the DNA polymerase activity of Hspol γ by inhibiting its stimulation by HsmtSSBwt.

This mutation is known to confer increased polymerase activity in mammalian cells [ 10], and also modulates anti-viral activity, apoptosis, and viral clearance [ 11].
The inhibition to viral polymerase activity can be evaluated by measuring the extension of viral genome.
