In the 39 cases of peripheral lung cancer, 24 adenocarcinoma (well, moderately, poorly differentiation are 9, 10, 5 cases respectively), 11 squamous cell carcinoma (well, moderately, and poorly differentiation are 6, 4, 1 cases respectively), 11 large and small cell carcinoma (well, moderately, poorly differentiation are 6, 4, 1 cases respectively) (Table 1).
We found that AFP values were significantly higher in women, larger tumor size, moderately poorly differentiated and late AJCC stage of HCC, whereas serum annexin A2 levels were not influenced by age, gender, pathological differentiation, tumor size and tumor stages.
The ratios of well:moderately:poorly differentiated tumours were 7 16:8, 1 18 5, 5 28 11 and 0 5 0 for ampullary adenocarcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and duodenal adenocarcinoma respectively.
Similarly, compared with CK8-negative tumours, the proportion of CK8-positive cases was significantly higher among moderately poorly differentiated OSCCs (65.6% vs 94.1%, respectively, P<0.001), patients treated with NACT (46.4% vs 61.2%, respectively, P=0.0485), and large number (⩾4) of pathologically positive lymph nodes (25.6% vs 40.0%, respectively, P=0.0340).
Patients with well-differentiated cancers were significantly younger at diagnosis (mean age, 63.9 (63.3 to 64.5) years) than patients with cancers of higher neoplastic grade (moderately, poorly or undifferentiated; 66.3 (66.0 to 66.5), 66.4 (66.1 to 66.7) and 65.3 (64.0 to 66.6) years; p<0.0001, p<0.0001 and p=0.043; respectively).
Hence {G1, G2, G3, G4} are also referred to as well-, moderately-, poorly- and un-differentiated, respectively.
Microarray gene-expression data of 54 paired gastric cancer and adjacent noncancerous gastric tissues were analyzed, with the aim to establish gene signatures for cancer grades (well-, moderately-, poorly- or un-differentiated) and stages (I, II, III and IV), which have been determined by pathologists.
