Aside from improvements in equipment, many in the sport are advocating more moderate training methods to provide the body with a chance to heal microstrains and microfractures.
The tendency for athletes to regress toward perceptions of moderate training loads may from a theoretical standpoint have important implications for training athletes [9, 10, 25].
Antioxidant and pro-oxidant pathophysiological pathways of physical activity need to be elucidated, apparently, beneficial effects on oxidative stress and health are obtained when regular moderate training is practiced [3].
Whether these occurrences were correlated to or caused by the regression to moderate training loads is unknown; however, we can note that none of the athlete's experiences forced them to miss the remainder of the season.
