When generating test data it is beneficial to operate at the same representation level where the software is developed, which may be at the source-code level or at a domain-specific modeling environment like ezRealtime [2], MATLAB/Simulink [3, 4], Statemate [5], or Scade [6].
Methodologies, like co-simulation which allows for parallel simulation at different time-scales in different modules, and modeling environments for integrative models including different types of equations (ODEs, PDEs, SDEs etc) were discussed and evaluated.
