Figure 4 shows the impact of population size on the evolution of recombination for both the standard model (panels a and b) and for the alternative model (panel c and d).

In both cases we contrast our weighted least squares model (panels 1 and 3) with simple OLS (panels 2 and 4).
As shown in Figure 8, Additional file 1: Appendix D, the SET of married women increases in husband's income (panels b) and d)) exhibits higher values than the benchmark model (panels a) and c)), implying a decreasing labor force participation in husband's income.
Similarly, if three components are used to globally fit the full datasets of figure 2, it is observed that the parallel model (panels C and F) results in compensating amplitudes for the spectra that have 1.8 and 31 s time constants (look for instance at pixel 50).
It can be seen from the graphs in Figure 5 that model comparison identifies the correct perceptual model with only few exceptions for the static model (left panel) and always for the dynamic model (note that a log-evidence difference of zero corresponds to identical evidence for both models).

To estimate the effect of circumcision on HR-HPV clearance, the Weibull frailty model 4 and log-logistic AFT frailty model 6 were applied respectively, and the model parameters were estimated by maximizing the full likelihood given in equation 7. Table 2 lists the parameter estimates from the Weibull frailty model (left panel) and Log-logistic frailty model (right panel) obtained by PROC NLMIXED.
Comparing panels (a) and (d) we observe that current spreads out more easily in the microscopic model (panel (d)) than in the discrete model (panel (a)).
