GAMETES allows the exact specification of four model constraints including; number of loci, heritability, minor allele frequencies, and population prevalence.
The well-posed model constraints are a set of reasonable constraints which a correct QDE model should obey, and these constraints include: (a) Size: the model size is defined as the number of constraints in the 0th differential plane of the model.
As a consequence, a few authors [13, 24, 25] have attempted to define time-dependent models of Gibbs distributions where constraints include time-dependent correlations between pairs, triplets, and so on [26].
The exceptions were required because of stochastic model constraints and included the alteration of the average number of offspring per female between simulations with different mating systems.
As a result, we identified one valid model fulfilling all constraints (including the less conservative constraints obtained by identifying the basal- and hyperrepressed phenotype, see first row in Table S2, Additional file 1).

FBA finds a flux distribution (values of fluxes of all reactions belonging to the model) that maximizes or minimizes a previously defined objective (usually R x or substrate uptake rate) and calculates value of this objective given the constraints included into the model.
