To examine whether these characteristics of the haptic exploration of adults would influence the positive effect of the addition of this modality, adults were asked to learn 15 new associations between novel visual stimuli and their corresponding sounds in two learning methods which differed according to the perceptual modalities involved in processing the stimuli.
