FI has potential as an additional imaging technique or replacement for current imaging modalities for initial staging and/or response assessment.
However, the guidelines indicated that PET/CT scans may be considered as an adjunct to other imaging modalities for initial evaluation of recurrent or metastatic disease, locally advanced, or inflammatory breast cancer when the results of other imaging tests were unclear, but even then, the guidelines stated that biopsies would probably be more informative than PET or PET/CT scans[ 37 39].
