Experiments were performed with "Mobile" sequence to verify the effectiveness of our method in managing the additional bandwidth requirement because of SSP-frames at the switching instants.
For example, in the Mobile sequence, TS of the proposed algorithm is −56%, while TS of Martínez-Enríquez's and Jeon's algorithms are −29% and −6%, respectively.
The results are depicted in Figures 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, where the -axis shows the number of p-pictures and the -axis the video quality in terms of PSNR. Figure 8 Coding efficiency of Mobile sequence with different number of non-referenced p-pictures.
For instance, the distribution of R-D slopes and block data rates of the LLLL subband of MOBILE sequence is shown in Figures 5 and Figure 6, a major video distortion as well as video quality impact can be discriminated on the basis of the R-D slope values.
Figures 13 and 14 show the upswitching and downswitching of the "Mobile" sequence after merging the additional bandwidth in the step of the FOR of target bitstream after switching.
These SP-frames will change the average bit rate of the sequence and hence the "downstairs" reservation curve (which is based on moving averages) with and without SP-frames will be different as is evident from Figures 5 and 6 for "Mobile" sequence with quantization parameters of 25 and 30, respectively.
This results corroborates earlier findings [ 28] of widespread HGT of this mobile sequence (Fig. 7).

The complex background of the Mobile sequence (the background is the wall paper, e.g., everything except the train, the wagon, the ball, and the rails), which contains the same colors as the foreground objects (particularly in the region directly behind the ball) makes it difficult to segment out and track the ball.
