TRIQUINT SEMICONDUCTOR, Hillsboro, Ore., a maker of chips for mobile phones and optical networks, said that it had agreed to sell factories to CyOptics, Lehigh Valley, Pa., a privately held optical components manufacturer, and Anthem Partners, an affiliate of M.R.A. Group, Plymouth Meeting, Pa., for $32 million.
The three primary areas of discussion are fixed wireless, mobile wireless, and optical wireless technology.
It is used extensively in telecommunication products such as mobile phones and optical modulators, for such components as resonant crystals.
Lithium niobate, which is a ferroelectric, is used extensively in mobile telephones and optical modulators, and for the manufacture of surface acoustic wave devices.
The unit handles design, development and sales of chips for mobile phone handsets and optical communications equipment, a spokesman said.
