The financial mix of the studied MHP is shown in Table 1.
The case mix of this study cohort could have hindered the detection of specific conditions that influence the development of acute kidney injury.
Note that here we assume that the case mix of the validation study is identical to the development study; if this is not the case then the interpretation of the value of D (or, indeed, any other model performance measure) at external validation is more complex [ 29, 30].

These results evidence the importance of a difference in the uniformity of fit and case mix of the present study population compared to the original population in which the model was developed.

For instance, reflecting the area in which the research was carried out, the ethnic mix of the sample studied was very limited.
Since our research is ongoing, the examples presented consist of a mix of parts of the study which have already been carried out, ongoing analysis and things that we would like to investigate in the future.
Rank is determined according to the key criteria of feasibility (including time lines and the skill mix of the research team); the study design, with a preference for simple study designs using high quality data; and the impact on health services (including the potential cost savings and improvement to patients' lives).
