Sentence examples for mitochondrial insertion from inspiring English sources

Exact(14)

We previously reported that in humans, fragments in the nuclear genome known as nuclear mitochondrial insertion sequences (NumtS) affect accurate quantification of MtDNA.

In a recent study on chromosome 2 specific transcript variants, in which RNA had been prepared from a variety of tissues subjected to different treatments, including heat, a significant number of transcripts were cloned from mitochondrial insertion genes [20].

In some cases preferential amplification of numt (nuclear mitochondrial insertion) sequences has been observed [17], [18], but in most ancient DNA studies only occasional co-amplification of numts has been reported [19], [20].

Much to our surprise, however, when we analysed a group of microarray experiments, we found significant signals for a gene cluster on chromosome 2 that corresponds to the mitochondrial insertion, showing significant correlation with heat shock response genes and up-regulation in response to heat treatment.

Regions corresponding to typical chloroplast sequence and the mitochondrial insertion are indicated.

Furthermore, the presence of nuclear mitochondrial insertion (numt) sequences is a problem that should also be taken into account.

Nuclear mitochondrial insertions (numts) could be ruled out for long range PCR by joining the overlaps creating a circular sequence, and are not expected to be a problem for hybridization capture since nuclear DNA has a much lower copy number than mitochondrial DNA.

Thus, it is reasonable to assume that no mitochondrial nuclear mitochondrial insertions (numts) were sequenced.

A PCR experiment was performed to verify putative mitochondrial insertions in the Pariana radiciflora and Eremitis sp. plastomes.

Mapping the two sets of reads to their respective assemblies that include the insertion produced a continuum of perfectly overlapping reads that spanned the entire hypothesized mitochondrial insertions.

Given the rarity of mitochondrial insertions in grass plastomes, two such similar events in closely related taxa is more difficult to explain than a single insertion with subsequent differential degradation of this noncoding DNA.
