Jensen et al. (2007) identified five morphotypes from a minority of particles that were morphologically distinctive in Holocene lake sediments, and could reproduce four of these to some extent by selection of parent material when producing charcoal under laboratory conditions.
In a practical world, particularly one in which government deficits and basic human needs abound, one may reasonably ask whether such public largesse can be afforded to such a minority of special interest: particle physicists.
During the 4.75 V plateau, the overpotential is at a minimum when Li x CoPO4 nucleates and is the minority phase within the LiCoPO4 particle.
This indicates that only a minority had a high exposure to particles from indoor wood or coal burning, and visible indoor molds were rare, possibly due to the cold and dry climate.
Overall we find that particles affect the morphology greatly when the polymer preferred by the particles (PEO) is in a minority, but only modestly when the preferred polymer is in a majority.

In contrast however to NB and the many well-established granules found in nature, the serum pellets studied here showed predominantly spherical particle shapes with single walls, with only a minority displaying the variegated, multi-layered laminated morphology.
Because the imaging method only selectively images some but not all particles in the sample, it is not surprising that an individual particle has a composition that turns out to be a minority species detected by XANES, which is a method that measures the bulk composition.
