A "tropical night" is defined by the Japan Meteorological Agency as having the daily minimum temperature higher than 25 °C, although another criterion, for example, in Germany (20 °C), is somewhat lower than the Japanese definition and also lower than the usual daily minimum temperature in the IMC.
The temperatures were generally warmer than seasonal norms, with minimum temperatures higher than average.
The model indicated that ponderosa pine seedling density was highest where (1) mean annual precipitation was highest, (2) average May minimum temperature was highest, (3) overstory stand basal area was lowest and (4) Muhlenbergia spp. were dominant herbaceous plants.
