"Clearly, if we don't fund it the kids are not getting any activity outside, except for minimum recess time and lunch time," said Marilyn Ezrin, co-president of the Clifford School Parent-Teacher Organization.
There is no three-day minimum recess required to trigger the president's appointment authority.
An uninterrupted 10-day break is exactly the minimum recess period established by the Supreme Court's NLRB v. Noel Canning ruling during which the president may exercise his recess appointment power.
Ambient temperature at the level of hour positively affected recess frequency but did not have an overall effect on total recess time and recess duration.
Recess frequency, recess duration and total recess time were higher in uniparentals than in biparentals and positively correlated with ambient temperatures in uniparentals only.
At lower temperatures all three descriptors of incubation patterns were similar between uni- and biparentals, but with increasing temperatures uniparentals increased recess frequency and recess duration (Fig. 4).
The interaction between breeding strategy and ambient temperature was also significant on the level of day for recess frequency, but not for recess duration and total recess time (Table 1).
Recess duration was defined from when the bell rang to start recess at 11 00 am to when the bell rang to finish recess at 11 30 am.
Two comprehensive Australian studies have explored children's barriers for recess PA from a qualitative perspective and identified a lack of facilities/equipment, bullying, school policy, clothes, lack of teacher support [ 15, 16], lack of space, weather [ 15], playground aesthetics, fundamental movement skills and recess duration [ 16] are important barriers to recess PA.
Level-2 covariates included grade (coded with 0 = 3rd grade, 1 = 4th grade, 2 = 5th grade, and 3 = 6th grade), gender (coded 0 = male and 1 = female), average recess duration (in minutes), and baseline (trial 1) percent time in MVPA during recess.
