Light intensities were recorded using a data logger whose sensor was facing straight up and not shielded from direct sun to be able to get unflawed measurements of the minimum light levels during the 'night' (HOBO Temperature/Light Pendant Data Logger, UA-002-64; Onset Computer Corporation, Pocasset, MA, USA).
However, this was not factored into the supplementary lighting plan, which specified a minimum lighting level of 1000 lx.
