There are two very different approaches with the same name "The Many-Minds Interpretation (MMI)".
Recall (section 5.3.3) that in Albert and Loewer's (1988) many-minds interpretation this is not the case.
For example, the question of action at a distance in the EPR/B experiment may arise in the context of the splitting-worlds interpretation, but not in the context of Albert and Loewer's many-minds interpretation.
Note also that in Albert and Loewer's (1988) version of the many-minds interpretation, the mental does not supervene on the physical, because individual minds have trans-temporal identity of their own.
Yet, in order to account for our experience of a classical-like world, where at the end of measurements observers are typically in mental states of perceiving definite outcomes, the many-minds interpretation appeals to a dualism of mind-body.
Other readings of Everett include the many-minds interpretation (Albert and Loewer 1988, Barrett 1999, chapter 7), the consistent-histories approach (Gell-Mann and Hartle 1990), the Everett-like relational interpretation (Saunders 1995, Mermin 1998) and (what may be called) the many-structures interpretation (Wallace 2005c).
It is senseless to ask: "What is the probability that I will get A instead of B?" because I will correspond to both "Lev"s: the one who observes A and the other one who observes B. To solve this difficulty, Albert and Loewer 1988 proposed the Many Minds interpretation (in which the different worlds are only in the minds of sentient beings).
So sacrificing some of our most fundamental presuppositions about the physical reality and assuming a controversial mind-body dualism, the many-minds interpretation of quantum mechanics does not postulate any action at a distance or superluminal causation between the distant wings of the EPR/B experiment.
If one assumes that mentality can be associated only with certain decohering structures of great complexity, this might have the advantage of further reducing the remaining ambiguity about the preferred 'basis' (see Matthew Donald's website on 'A Many-Minds Interpretation of Quantum Theory', referenced in the Other Internet Resources).
The latter leads directly to the idea of many-minds interpretations.[26] The idea of many minds was suggested early on by Zeh (2000; also 1995, p. 24).
