Indeed, at P12, control and Rac1/Dlx5/6-CIE mice showed similar number and distribution of PV-positive cortical interneurons, prompting the authors to conclude that Rac1 is dispensable for the migration of MGE-derived interneurons per se, although it is required to confer migratory competence on differentiating progenitors.
