The rapid chloride migration coefficient and rate of accelerated corrosion of structural CEM I and CEM III/A CCA concretes was measured to determine the effect on chloride ion ingress.
Based on the chloride penetration depth obtained from the chloride profile, a modified RCPT method was used to compute the chloride migration coefficient and assess the chloride permeability of concrete.
Results indicate that although the total charge passed, migration coefficient, and diffusion coefficient of the LWAC were not significantly different from those of NWAC with the same w/c of 0.38, resistance of the LWAC to chloride penetration decreased with increase in the cumulative LWA content in the concretes.
The influence of the type and amount of cement and filler and the amount of water on the migration coefficient and the so-called age factor of 16 self-compacting concrete mixes (SCC) and four traditional vibrated concrete mixes (TC) were investigated.
