With increasing microbial drug resistance worldwide, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are considered promising alternatives to addressing this problem.
Topical antimicrobials and dressings are generally employed to inhibit burn infections followed by a burn wound therapy, because systemic antibiotics have problems in reaching the infected site, coupled with increasing microbial drug resistance.
Thus, we developed a comprehensive database, anti microbial drug database (AMDD), of known synthetic antibacterial and antifungal compounds that were extracted from the available literature and other chemical databases, e.g., PubChem, PubChem BioAssay and ZINC, etc.
Among the various approaches, the use of engineered nanostructures is currently the most promising strategy to overcome microbial drug resistance by improving the remedial efficiency due to their high surface-to-volume ratio and their intrinsic or chemically incorporated antibacterial activity.

Apparently, lagging in these technologies opens vulnerabilities at global scale, considering the issues of microbial drug resistance, bioengineering and bio-terror.
Gnotobiotic mouse experiments revealed that increased protein intake can limit microbial drug inactivation.
Additionally, this system is of potential interest for microbial drug target screens.
An experimental and computational platform for the mechanistic dissection of microbial drug metabolism is now emerging (Fig. 3).
There exists a global threat for the existing antimicrobial agents due to the widespread emergence of microbial drug resistance.
