Our results conclusively demonstrate that mice trained to discriminate between unadulterated urinary signals of the congenic mice generalize the discrimination, without reward or training, to the buffer solution containing the peptide-free urinary volatiles (p < 0.001, binomial test).
That is, we asked whether mice trained to discriminate urines of mice with and without LKR-induced tumors would recognize (generalize this response to) LLC tumor-bearing mice and vice versa.
This result appears to be inconsistent with the animal training studies that indicated that mice trained to discriminate in one of the tumor models generalized this learned response without further training to the other model.
The combined concordance (that is correct response) score for the generalization trials of coded urine samples where only MHC varied was 55% (not different from chance) whereas when only diet varied it was 75% (significantly different from chance), suggesting that mice trained to discriminate urines from mice that differed both in diet and MHC type found the diet odor more salient.
The number of mice trained to each platform position was counterbalanced with respect to the group.
Electrodes were targeted to the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental region of mice trained to perform an auditory trace conditioning paradigm.

We confirmed that AgRP photostimulation in a headfixed mouse trained to lick for liquid Ensure also drives feeding.
Nevertheless, when mice were trained to discriminate mice with only MHC differences (but on the same diet), they recognized the MHC difference when tested with urines from mice on a different diet.
Here mice were trained to discriminate MHC congenic mice on one diet and their response to the same MHC difference in mice on a novel diet was tested.
"They're mice, training to be rats".
During two training sessions that were separated by at least 20 min, mice were trained to walk on a rotarod that was rotating at a constant speed of 20 rpm, Only mice that walked on the rotarod for 120 s during the second training session advanced to drug treatment, which commenced in the afternoon of the same day.
