Surprisingly, based on this modified strategy, we got a better prediction with c-index = 0.628 (Table 1 ), which is even higher than the top two methods with c-indexes of 0.613 and 0.605 in the challenge.
Using this signature gene set, we can get a c-index of 0.599, which is very competitive compared to the top two methods, with c-indexes of 0.613 and 0.605, respectively (M. Bansal et al., personal communication).

Figure 3A depicts the SEIF i obtained from the orthogonal polynomial method with c 2 for the 170 individuals.
