Individually, the items related to "quantitative methods" (effect size 0.50, [95% CI] from 0.23 to 0.77), "clear reporting" (0.49, from 0.27 to 0.70), "design" (0.41, from 0.17 to 0.64), and "reporting multiple measures" (0.38, from 0.12 to 0.65), were those where, on average, the statistical review most raised the quality of the submitted manuscript.
To test if the statistically significant differences between pre-treatment and post-treatment OHIP-49 scores were clinically meaningful, the distribution-based methods effect size (ES) [ 34] and standard error of the measurement (SEM) [ 35] was calculated within each group of participants.
