The support needs of distributed design are reviewed from a cognitive viewpoint using five broad categories: design methodology, collaboration, teamwork, knowledge management and design representation.
Data was analyzed through the principles summarized in the Distributed Cognition for Teamwork methodology.
Team training, specifically the TeamSTEPPS™ training program, has been touted as one methodology for optimizing teamwork among providers and increasing patient safety.
