This research methodology project investigates whether researchers can be persuaded to share methods and if this will streamline research.
The seminar meets approximately biweekly and focuses on topics such as research methodology; project design; literature review, including bibliographies and citation practices; grant writing.
Using object-oriented design methodology, projects have been developed for different neural components, from networks, neurons, dendrites, and synapses right down to molecules.
Methodology: Project documentation – including Project Cooperation Agreements; project reports; Early Childhood Development literature; situational analysis of Nkandla Local Municipality; and relevant budget documentation, was reviewed.

When comparing differences in the number of citations between monograph publications with their related journal articles from the same project, we found that monographs received more citations than their journal articles for evidence syntheses and methodology projects; by contrast, journal articles related to primary research monographs were more highly cited than their monograph.
