To assess the performance of a new method, the diagnostic sensitivity (DSn) and specificity (DSp) should be determined in reference samples with known history and infection status [ 8, 9, 22].
In spite of these limitations of the method the diagnostic accuracy of elastography was at least as good as that of standard B-mode US breast imaging reporting and data system (BI-RADS) assessment, which provides standardized terminology to describe US mass features, assessments, and recommendations [ 19– 22].
When the ability to discriminate the PD and nPD groups in the conventional method was compared to our method, the diagnostic accuracy and sensitivity decreased by 10% and 8%, respectively, as shown in Table 5.
