In addition to imaging modalities, other factors may have affected the incidence of postoperative VTE, such as the method of anesthesia, duration of surgery, perioperative injection of heparin, immobilization, and duration of hospital stay (Husted et al. 2010, Brueckner et al. 2003).
In a point prevalence survey we assessed the appropriateness of antibiotic therapy using an electronic surveillance system in combination with a standardized method for duration of therapy, dosage, dosage interval, route of administration, and choice of antibiotic drug.
However, varying only five of these elements (content of feedback, intensity of feedback, method of delivery, duration and context) produces 288 combinations [ 1].

This novel method of setting expiratory duration sets this personalized APRV (P-APRV) strategy (Figs. 1d and 2) apart from all other fixed setting-APRV (F-APRV) strategies.
Thus, this method of setting expiratory duration is adaptive to changes in lung pathophysiology and personalizes the mechanical breath to each individual patient.
