The meteor comes streaking down from the top of the sky at about the 22-second mark, with a clear outburst of light occurring at about 24 seconds.
This is the sort of thing you say when you're blindsided by an act of God, as when a meteor comes crashing out of the sky and destroys your neighborhood.
Some initially speculated that Earth was passing through a swarm of asteroids, but the Russian meteor came from the other direction.
"It's not as if a meteor came down and created a big crater," said Robert Hof, an owner of Terrace Sotheby's International Realty in Station Square.
But if a large meteor came in at a low enough angle, it would be expected to form a cluster of elongated craters as it hit and split into fragments big enough to create craters on their own.

However, the authors of this study, based at the University of Reading in England say they took a "statistical approach," looking at a family-tree like diagram of dinosaur species over time, and creating a mathematical model for species changes, resulting in greater certainty that dinosaurs were dying en masse before that meteor came.

The meteors come thick and fast: other highlights are the Orionids, (21 October); the Leonids, 16-177 November); the Geminids, 13-144 December) and the Quadrantids, (2-3 January).
"We originally got a report of a plane crash, and now it seems there were multiple meteors coming down," said Tara Dolzani, the supervisor of the Schuylkill County communications center in Pottsville, Pa.
