The major contribution of this work is the reconstruction of a compartmental metabolic network for primary metabolism in the green alga, C. reinhardtii.
We have developed a metabolic network for rice with mappings of annotated genes to individual reactions, and we have discussed how it serves as a platform to visualize and analyze genome scale datasets and carryout comparative analysis.
Relative to the introduction of gene(s) in a single organism wherein the genes depend on the regulatory- and metabolic network for proper expression, microbial consortium engineering is easier and achievable.
